I am lucky enough to have been paid to travel. I have eaten snake in China, escaped thieves in West Africa, and stood at the rim of a churning volcano in Vanuatu--all in the name of wanderlust. I am an American living in Australia, owner of an eco-travel company, Small World Journeys, a freelance writer and a frequent cheapskate. I relish places that are off-the-beaten track, eco-friendly, unusual, a great value or if there is some nakedness involved.
